A custom paper for firearm import will be sent before your hunt. Ensure its receipt.

For hunting large game like buffalo, bring a heavy rifle (.375 H & H Magnum, .458 Winchester Magnum, .416 Remington, etc.) with a variable power scope (1,5x4, 2x7, etc.).

Carry 80 rounds of soft point ammunition (160-220 grains depending on caliber) and 20 rounds of solid ammunition.

Each client may import up to two guns. Note that you cannot bring more than one gun of the same caliber.

Automatic, semi-automatic guns, and handguns are prohibited. For hunting buffalo, lion, rhino, and elephant, a minimum caliber of .375 is required.

Ammunition Allowance:

You’re allowed to bring eighty rounds of ammunition per gun. Shotgun shells for bird hunting are available for purchase in South Africa.

Rifle Import Procedures:

Customs Declaration Form: Clients from the USA must complete a customs declaration form (number 4457), available post-inspection of your gun.

Firearm Permit: A permit will be issued upon your arrival in South Africa. We ensure you receive the permit application before your departure.

Hunting Invitation Letter: You will receive a hunting invitation letter from us, which should be included in your application.
