  • Pants:

    • Three pairs of durable cotton safari pants in khaki, green, or your preferred jeans.

  • Shirts:

    • Three hunting shirts, available in khaki, green, or camouflage patterns.

  • Jackets:

    • A lightweight hunting jacket is recommended for regular use, and a heavy jacket is recommended for cooler months (June, July, August).

  • Hat:

    • A hunting hat is provided, but you can bring your own.

  • Undergarments:

    • Pack at least three sets of underwear and socks for comfort.

  • Additional Gear:

    • Rifle sling for ease of carry.

    • Airline-approved hard gun case for transport.

    • A soft gun case for field use.

    • A sturdy belt.

    • Lightweight, well-broken-in hunting boots for comfort during long walks.

    • An optional safari vest from Cabela's for convenience.

    • Camouflage attire is permitted in South Africa.

  • Laundry:

    • Daily washing services are available for your convenience.

FIREARM REQUIREMENTS AND GUIDELINES

Essential information on firearm selection, importation procedures, and ammunition guidelines for a seamless hunting experience in South Africa.

  • Proof of Gun Ownership:

    • ​Must be presented upon entering South Africa.

  • Firearm Import Documentation:

    • A custom paper for firearm import will be sent before your hunt. Ensure its receipt.

  • Custom Form 4457:

    • Obtain from Customs as ownership proof.

  • Firearm Restrictions:

    • No semi-automatic handguns.

    • Bolt-action rifles (.270, 30/06, 7 mm Magnum, .300 Winchester, .300 Weatherby Magnum) with variable-power scopes (2x7, 3x9) are recommended.

    • Use familiar firearms; there is no need for new purchases.

  • Big Game Rifles:

    • For hunting large game like buffalo, bring a heavy rifle (.375 H & H Magnum, .458 Winchester Magnum, .416 Remington, etc.) with a variable power scope (1,5x4, 2x7, etc.).

  • Ammunition:

    • Carry 80 rounds of soft point ammunition (160-220 grains depending on caliber) and 20 rounds of solid ammunition.

  • Additional Requirements:

    • A rifle sling and a hard gun case for transport are necessary.

GUN REGULATIONS AND PERMIT GUIDELINES

  • Gun Import Limit:

    • Each client may import up to two guns. Note that you cannot bring more than one gun of the same caliber.

  • Firearm Restrictions:

    • Automatic, semi-automatic guns, and handguns are prohibited. For hunting buffalo, lion, rhino, and elephant, a minimum caliber of .375 is required.

  • Ammunition Allowance:

    • You’re allowed to bring eighty rounds of ammunition per gun. Shotgun shells for bird hunting are available for purchase in South Africa.

  • Rifle Import Procedures:

    • Customs Declaration Form: Clients from the USA must complete a customs declaration form (number 4457), available post-inspection of your gun.

    • Firearm Permit: A permit will be issued upon your arrival in South Africa. We ensure you receive the permit application before your departure.

    • Hunting Invitation Letter: You will receive a hunting invitation letter from us, which should be included in your application.
