I had hunted with Riaan Vosloo at Shingani Safari before, so when my 18-year-old daughter said she wanted an African Safari for her graduation present, where we would go was a no-brainer. The accommodations, the attention to detail, your needs, and the cooking are unparalleled. We agreed on the animals we wanted to harvest well before our arrival, and we harvested them all as quality animals that we are proud to display at home. We even added a couple of animals once we got there, and they made that happen, too. If you are looking for an experience that is truly once in a lifetime, Shingani Safari is the only place to go.

I hunted with Shingani Safaris in 2021 after a recommendation from my taxidermist ( Lengacher’s Taxidermy ), who had hunted there several times before. The experience was great—better than advertised. The Professional Hunters and the Outfitter, as well as all the staff and accommodations, were top-notch.
My wife, who is not a hunter, went with me, and she enjoyed it. She went hunting as an observer every day except 1. She had not planned on that but got hooked on day 1. The day she didn’t go hunting with me, they had a lady's day in town planned—a Spa Day! They had a picnic lunch by a lake and watched Hippos. I think she enjoyed it as much as I did. The hunting was great.
The people were great. I have 5 stars for every category. We showed up as clients and ended up as lifelong friends. I enjoyed it so much that I went again in 2023. I stayed at the new lodge on that trip. The same group of family and friends took exceptional care to make everything a super experience. Riaan, Ryun, Ruben, Charne’, Grant &Jaco are all in the family! Again, it was a great hunt. Every day is an adventure.
This is a very special place and very special people! I’m going again in 2026! I would recommend Shingani to anyone looking for the best in a South African Safari.

The first time I hunted with Riaan was in 1998, twenty-six years ago. Now, 21 hunts later, there is NO ONE I can recommend more highly. Riaan and his staff put every effort into making your safari into everything you hope for.

For many years, I had the privilege of working with Riaan in whatever capacity he needed at the time. During these years, we hunted from the Karoo and Kalahari in South Africa to The Gwayi, Hwange, and Matetsi areas in Zimbabwe. In doing so, I have firsthand experience of the amount of hard work that happens "behind the scenes" to ensure a great safari experience for his clients.

In the early 2000s, my parents accompanied me to Shingani, and I absolutely fell in love with Shingani, Africa, and Riaan, his family, and his staff. Now, my children and grandchildren have made multiple trips to Shingani and have enjoyed great success and always leave, already planning a return. Four generations of my family have enjoyed Shingani and all it offers.

I could go on for pages about Shingani about the adventures I've had with Riaan, but I won't. Maybe one day we will have the great fortune to find ourselves sitting by the fire at the Lapa at Shingani sharing stories, I hope so.
